Golf Cart Raffle: Congratulations to Brian Piche’ of Mayville for being this year’s lucky winner. Thank you to Mr. Chips and Gus’ Party Store for all the tickets that you sold. A huge thank you also goes out to Bill Barkowska for taking the cart to Mr. Chips every day.

Alumni Football Game: Thank you for everyone who came out on a beautiful evening to support these two great football programs and watch Mayville’s Alumni take on Kingston’s Alumni.  Mayville came up on the losing end but kept it close with a 14 – 0 game.  Thank you to Sarah Peters for singing the National Anthem.



Sunflower Sweetie, Terrific Toddler, and Perfect Pet Contest
A huge thank you goes out to Wingerts Food Center for allowing the voting to take place at their store and to everyone who voted. Over $1500 was raised and lots of change was counted and rolled by Shirley Zapfe and Angie Zechmeister. Winners were:

Decorating Contest Winner: Mayville District Library


Opening Ceremonies: Thank you to the American Legion Post 181 and VFW Post 10883 for attending our Opening Ceremonies and doing the Flag Folding Ceremony. Thank you to Sarah Peters for singing the National Anthem. Barbara Haas, you are a wonderful mistress of ceremonies and always pull everything together so beautifully – thanks so much. Also a thank you to Chelsea Brown who arranged for the prizes to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo and Flint Children’s Museum.


Vintage Baseball Game: The Mayville Area Chamber of Commerce gave it a good shot but the Midland Mighty River Hogs walked away with the win. Thank you Chris Larabell for doing the play by play.

Grand Parade: Thank you to the Mayville United Methodist Youth for carrying our sponsor banners, and Steve Charette for storing and making sure our sponsor banners are ready to go. McDonald Chevrolet in Millington for the use of vehicles for our Citizen of the Year and Parade Grand Marshal. Richard & Shirley Zapfe for making the signs and pulling the trailer with our winners, Angie Zechmeister for her performance as Sunny the Sunflower, and Joe Zechmeister for keeping the parade moving smoothly. Finally, thank you to Ron Johnson and Pete Moceri for being announcers, Ann Moceri, Judy Chesney, and Janet Larabell for being runners, and Chris Larabell for setting up our speakers. Parade winners were:

Best Theme: Mayville State Bank
Best Vehicle – Frank Franzel Well Drilling Truck
Best Tractor – Roy Harris



Thumb Area Tractor Pulls: Thank you to the huge crowd that turned out for this new event. Cars were parked everywhere. It is great when two organizations team up to put on a huge event and bring even more people to town.


Fireworks: What a great show! Thank you to the Mayville Eagles #4099 for the benefit dinner which added $400 to our great fireworks show and Mayville Community Schools for allowing the fireworks to be shot from your grounds.


Carnival: The carnival became an addition the Monday before the festival started. Thank you to Mayville Community Schools for agreeing to have it on your property with such short notice. Also thank you to everyone who stopped by to ride the rides and eat at the food stands. We would love to hear from the community on whether you would want the carnival back next year.

Bump and Run Derby: A huge crowd turned out after a few rain showers to enjoy the excitement. The Chamber would like to thank the Mayville Lions for working the parking.

Track preparation was done by Ron Johnson, Frank Franzel, and Dave Gorde.

Flag/Track volunteers were Ron McPherson, Ron Gromak, Bob Zimmerman, Jack Campbell, and Ron Johnson.

Gate volunteers were Janet Larabell, Shelly Brooks, Kyle Middleton, Angie Zechmeister, Darlene Seaman, and Judy Chesney.

Lap counters were Shelly Brooks, Aaron Wingert, Alexis Rutter, Lucas Rutter, Reece Asmus, Joe Zechmeister, Aric Hobson, Gabby Ramirez, Ben Heminger, Chris & Jeremiah Larabell , and Kyle Middleton. Winners were:

Other Events – Thank you to all the organizatons, businesses, school teams, and churches who hosted events during the festival. Because of you, we had a full schedule.


Committee – Thank you to my committee Kyle Middleton, Judy Chesney, Tamera Blackwell, Chelsea Brown, Fran Campbell, Cindy Coxe, Frank Franzel, Ronald Johnson, Shari Johnson, Chris Larabell, Janet Larabell, Christine Trisch, and Barbara Valentine for pulling everything together. You are the best.


Special Thanks to the Village of Mayville and Mayville Community Schools for allowing us to host events on your property. Thank you to the DPW crew who made our town shine and run smoothly during the weekend. Finally, thank you to the Mayville Fire Department, Mayville Police Department, and the Mayville Area Ambulance Service; we couldn’t do this Festival without each of you.
